Michael Jackson The Experience | PS3 games
As if that weren't enough, The Experience is far from over. The current sales tally doesn't take into account the forthcoming Japanese launch of the game, nor does it include the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions, which Ubisoft has set for an April 12 release in North America. The European launch is set for April 14.
When Michael Jackson The Experience arrives on Sony's and Microsoft's consoles, it won't be a straight port of the Wii version. Ubisoft has incorporated compatibility with the systems' respective Kinect and Move motion-sensing peripherals and is adding new songs as well. Already confirmed for the new console versions are "Blood on the Dance Floor" and "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," with more to be announced.
Michael Jackson The Experience isn't the first game to feature the so-called "King of Pop." In 1989 and 1990, he was featured in the hit game Moonwalker, which debuted in arcades but eventually also made its way to home platforms, such as the Amiga, Commodore 64, MSX, and Sega Genesis. The latter version was recently rereleased on the Wii via the platform's Virtual Console retro-game emulator. He also made
Ubisoft confirmed to IGN this morning both the Move and Kinect versions of Michael Jackson The Experience will now ship in early 2011. The publisher said this move was done in part to allow its developers more time to polish the games.
"We're giving our teams more time to develop the Kinect and Move versions to ensure we deliver awesome experiences that take full advantage of the new technologies," a representative said.
Ubisoft did say, however, the Wii, DS and PSP versions of the game are still planned for this year and will ship on Nov. 23 in North America and Nov. 25 in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
